Edward began his insurance career in 1947 on a two year training program with the Continental Casualty Company (CNA). After that he joined his father's agency, known as Schwartz-Kruger & Company, a property and casualty insurance brokerage firm. His father passed away in 1950, and Schwartz-Kruger & Company became known as Schwartz Brothers Insurance Agency.
To better serve the expanded needs of clients, Schwartz Benefit Services, Inc. was formed to market life, health, disability and long term care insurance. Along with his work at Schwartz Brothers, from 1981 to 1986 Edward was Co-President of Financial Risk Underwriting Agency, a bond guarantee agency located in New York.
During his career Edward was one of the three founding members of the Chicago Youth Centers. He also served on numerous charity boards and frequently lectured at insurance seminars and conventions.
Edward has attended the University of Illinois at Champaign, Roosevelt College, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
